🌊 Imagine pressing pause for a few days…
No rush.
No endless notifications.
Just sea air, quiet woodland paths and time to reconnect with yourself.
In our newest blog, “The Sacred Pause,” we share why taking intentional time to slow down can be so powerful — and how retreats help create that space.
At Cwm Connell Coastal Cottages, our retreats blend yoga, nature, and deep rest in a peaceful coastal setting just a short walk from the sea. Guests stay in beautifully restored cottages with access to sauna, hot tub and the wild Pembrokeshire landscape.

Before we publish our newest blog, “The Sacred Pause" we want to ask you...
When was the last time you truly paused?
In the yogic tradition, retreat is not about running from life. It’s about remembering who you are beneath the noise. It’s about giving your nervous system space to soften. It’s about breathing — deeply — without rushing to the next thing.
At Cwm Connell, nestled in the wild beauty of West Wales, we hold space for that ancient and intentional pause. A place where body and breath meet again. Where mind settles. #YogaRetreat#SacredPause#RetreatToReturn#CwmConnell#WestWalesRetreat #CwmConnell#YogaRetreatUK#WestWalesRetreat#SacredPause#retreattoreturn

Our Top 10 Favourite Dog Friendly beaches close to Cwm Connell No 1 🥇Ceibwr Bay
Our guests first stop as soon as they arrive! A short walk from your cottage door, through the wooded valley down the Cwm you will find a beautiful sheltered pebble cove owned by the National Trust and registered as a site of scientific interest. You could find Grey seals here, basking on the rocks. There’s a little river winding its way to the sea through the cove, with a perfect ‘Pooh Stick’ bridge. Our dogs love to pootle around sniffing the sea weed and chewing the driftwood. A wonderful place. Emma and Alex so welcoming. Peaceful, homely in the most beautiful setting. The accommodation is perfect with comfy beds and a cosy wood burner. My doggo loved it too. Super walks straight from the door. We stayed as part of a yoga retreat which was great, but I'm sure I'll be back, yoga or not.

Cwm Connell Coastal Cottages is an assortment of accommodations beautifully isolated on Cemaes Head, North Pembrokeshire, but accessible to the towns of Cardigan just to the north, and south to Newport via local bus service, should you choose to leave your car behind. And you have wonderful walks from the doorstep, which don’t need to be strenuous at all to enjoy the location.
I was there for a wonderful yoga retreat, and booked a further couple of nights for my husband and dog to join me; the lovely accommodation we chose was perfect for the three of us.
A personal and warm welcome from owners Emma and Alex, and following my yoga weekend retreat I couldn’t resist joining Alex and his clients for his regular Monday yoga session.

We might just have found heaven-in-a-holiday. The scenery is idyllic, the cottages extremely comfortable and well-appointed and the wider setting, completely unspoilt. Emma & Alex were charming hosts, who made sure we had everything we needed to enjoy a holiday with three generations of our family, plus our dog. It was the perfect break.

This is one of our favourite places to stay. We highly recommend it to all our friends - especially those with dogs. Our children (ages 8 and 11) both absolutely loved the cottage called Yr Ffald, especially the exciting cabin beds. Our dog really appreciated the safely enclosed little courtyard so he could pop in and out to do his business, as well as the massive paddock meadow where he could run free every morning. We all felt instantly welcome and stuffed ourselves with the delicious local artisan bread and Welsh honey butter when we arrived after a long drive. The cottage was immaculate, beautifully styled, and the kitchen had everything you could need. The wet room bathroom was a real treat (and made showering sandy children after beach visits much easier). The master bedroom has a huge and comfy bed (husband is 6’3” so some beds in other places have been a bit poky) and the birdsong in the morning was glorious. We loved the walk down along the stream to the beach at Ceibwr Bay and the nearby sandy beaches at Poppit Sands and Newport are as good as anything around the Med. and a lot less crowded. Massive thumbs up.

We have just returned from our second visit to Cwm Connell. It is the most idyllic location and wonderful, immaculate accommodation with the added treat of fresh sourdough, milk, coffee and honey butter to welcome us.
We have enjoyed Poppit Sands almost daily and have also visited Newport Sands and Mwnt. We have spent time in Cardigan, including the agricultural show. We have loved time spent in the cottage, the hot tub and the fabulous paddock, running the legs off our dog. We have enjoyed food at Crust, The Ferry Inn and Pizzatipi.
We absolutely love Cwm Connell and hope to return for a hat-trick. Alex and Emma are welcoming, attentive hosts who have thought of everything.

My husband and I had the best time at these cottages. We had 3 small dogs and they loved every minute. The paddock was perfect for their morning and evening play. The location of the beaches and walking paths both from the cottages themselves or a very short ride away were perfect for them. The accommodation was top notch, extremely clean and modern with everything you needed in the kitchen, bathroom and bedrooms. The wifi was a great speed, we didn't have any issues and being able to relax at the cottage and watch your favourite programmes on Netflix, apple tv or prime video which were all available. The owners were extremely friendly and willing to help with any question. Great for couples, friends, families and with or without dogs. Definitely recommend booking this in advance as they are popular and get booked up!
Also their website is brilliant. It has everything that you need to know and more. Key tip is to follow their directions to the property and not follow your sat nav - We followed their directions exactly as they had written it and had no issues, coming from the direction of Bristol.

Had the pleasure of spending two nights here and it was absolutely wonderful. The cottages were cosy, warm and managed to fit 6 comfortably. The location is ideal for outdoor lovers, with one of the most stunning beaches in the UK just a scenic 45-minute walk away. If you’re visiting, I highly recommend checking out the Witches Cauldron—it’s well worth the trip!

Such a special place. The walk down to the coast is a dream, with foxglove covered verges, trickling streams and lush fern forests. It’s easy to get lost here and so welcomed to do so. The cottages are equipped faultlessly for your every need, beautifully thought through to the smallest detail by the wonderful hosts Emma and Alex. It couldn’t be a more restorative and relaxing place to escape for a while - I wish I could do so every weekend!
