Take a trip back in time to a megalithic monument or a Medieval Castle, enjoy the wonderful wildlife all around, get involved in an adventure sport, entertain the kids or all of the above. If you’ve had enough of beaches or your legs are tired of walking here are some of the things we enjoy.
We have exciting news!! Last night Alex and I went to the Visit Pembrokeshire Croeso Awards dinner held at Pembrokeshire College. We are still feeling a bit stunned but are delighted to tell you that we were given the Best Self Catering (4+ units) Cottages in Pembrokeshire Award 🥇We are so honoured to be celebrated amongst the people, places and experiences that make the county such a special destination. It's a win for all of us! Thank you all for making our guests feel so welcome; Dagmarr, Rachel, Georgia and Sarah Rouet for helping me with change overs, Lydia's stunning flowers which adorn the cottages, and Stevie who educates and entertains our yoga retreat and holiday guests with his amazing nature walks so that they can fully appreciate this beautiful part of the Pembrokeshire Coast. Thank you to Rory Stone and many local businesses for helping us renovate the cottages to 5 star standard. Our guests love to visit Penrallt Garden Centre and thanks to staff there for constantly re-directing them to Cwm Connell - we share a post code! And Amanda Short at Really Pro for all your invaluable business advice. It was a stellar event with Pembrokeshire College students sourcing local produce and cooking and serving a delicious three course dinner. Prizes were given by world class Welsh athlete Colin Jackson and sponsors were The Celtic Collection and Pure West Radio. Thank you Ross for this fab review! "We stayed as a family (including baby and dog) in October and were lucky enough to have the whole place to ourselves, which made it feel even more peaceful.
Emma was incredibly friendly and accommodating, welcoming us and showing us around without rushing us at all (despite being late for her yoga session!).
Our cottage had been beautifully renovated and decorated. We loved the sauna and hot tub overlooking the countryside, and being able to walk straight from the cottage through woodland to quiet beaches and coves that we had completely to ourselves.
It was also one of the most dog-friendly places we’ve stayed. We were given unlimited dog towels, washing facilities, a treat bag, water bowl and an “on holiday” dog tag with emergency contact details. The secure dog paddock was a real bonus too. Our dog, Monty, absolutely loved it.
A lovely, peaceful place to stay and somewhere we’d happily return to. Thank you Emma & Alex!

We are so delighted to be showcased by the boutique international holiday company I-escape in their latest blog "The 12 dog-friendly UK hotels loved by dog owners":
They say: These gorgeous Welsh stone cottages are perfect for a dog-friendly escape, tucked away in the Pembrokeshire Coast National Park with woodland walks and a secluded cove practically on the doorstep. Dogs are welcome in every cottage, with enclosed terraces in most, plus a four-acre fenced paddock where they can run free while you soak up the views. There’s even a dog-washing station, towels and a hairdryer for post-walk muddy paws. Add cosy wood-burners, stylish interiors and a hot tub and sauna for the humans, and you’ve got a cracking countryside-and-coast escape for the whole pack. #dogfriendlyholidays#BoutiqueStay#dogfriendlyaccommodation
" I sell out every time I hold a retreat at Cwm Connell and it is not hard to see why. Alex and Emma are so welcoming and there for us whenever we need them. The attention to detail is both reassuring as a retreat host and noticed by my guests. Each cottage is exquisite – similar feel and colour but all unique, immaculately clean and so well laid out with everything you would want. The private decks overlooking the rolling meadows and gardens are wonderful. The yoga shala is light and spacious with a view over the meadow and sea. The communal lounge / dining room is cosy and relaxed. It’s the perfect set up with shared meals and space but also cosy cottages with kitchens and lounges where guests can retreat to have some me time. The guests love spending time in the spa, or reading in the gardens or wandering down to the sea.
The location and facilities are perfect for adding on extras to my retreats – sea kayaking, river canoeing, painting workshops, pottery or dance being some of the things we have done. And a cacao ceremony around the stunning fire pit watching the sun set over the sea is pretty unmatched anywhere.
I keep thinking I should look elsewhere for a new place to hold my retreats but I honestly don’t think I would find anything even close in facilities, quality and surroundings. And so I don’t. I return each summer with many yogi’s returning with me but also some new guests – for our annual recharge and reset."

A real gem. Beautifully appointed accommodation in a stunning location on the Pembrokeshire coast. Super dog-friendly, with lovely human and doggy treats on arrival. Our hosts made us feel very welcome. We greatly valued the quiet retreat which Cym Connell affords its guests while our Goldendoodle loved running free in the doggie paddock as we savoured the coastal views. We would highly recommend Cym Connell.

I have just come back from a 3 day yoga retreat run by Alex. This is my third retreat at Cwm Connell all run by Alex. I cannot recommend this weekend highly enough. It is a fully emersive experience including asanas, meditation, breath work, sound baths, mantras and philosophy. I loved every moment! The accomodation and studio are beautiful and very welcoming. Our chef constantly produced wholesome hearty vegetarian food including sweet healthy treats, she was happy to adapt meals to suit any dietary requirements. Cwm Connell is a very special place, peaceful, warm and welcoming with excellent access to the coast and Cardigan. A perfect place to unwind and immerse yourself in Nature and the changing seasons. I am already on the list for next year!

Fantastic rural location close to the coastal path, beaches and sea. Very comfortable cottage with all required amenities. The hot tub and sauna were a hit after walking, swimming and kayaking. Great set up for dogs and the kids loved it too. Many thanks to Emma and Alex for being so welcoming and helpful, will definitely recommend!

We have just returned from a delightful stay at Cwm Connell. The cottage was exceptional: superbly comfortable, well-equipped, and beautifully presented. The welcome basket of remarkably good bread and other delicious items from the local bakery was very much appreciated. Our hosts Emma and Alex were equally welcoming and made our stay all the more enjoyable with their warmth and wealth of local information. The Cwm Connell website was so helpful, with recommendations for walks, fantastic nearby beaches (we loved Mwnt beach), and local restaurants. It took all the effort out of finding the best places to go. We thoroughly enjoyed a wildlife walk with Steve Halton on our first morning, a yoga session with Alex, and relaxing in the hot tub while taking in the beautiful views. We had a splendid time and will definitely be returning.

Yr Ffald is lovely cottage as and described online. It has ramped access to the front door (although the concrete at the bottom is broken and there is a small lip/step at the top which makes it tricky to navigate for those in a wheelchair). The kitchen is well equipped with the basics and the beds are comfy. The hot tub was a big hit with the boys! Sarah is a fabulous host and was attentive, friendly and helpful throughout our stay. The area is great for exploring - we recommend coastering at Ceibwr bay, Ffynone Waterfall (especially for those in search of fairies!), New Port Beach for paddle-boarding, Llys-y-fran reservoir (for a walk or bike-ride), Whitesands Bay for surfing and the Blue Lagoon for the fearless!

Amazing location, views are beautiful. Superbly dog friendly and lots of amenities including barbecues, washer and drier for guests to use. Short 20 mins walk to a pebble beach. We had the nicest time staying here. Would definitely recommend to dog owners looking for a nice holiday in the Welsh coast countryside.

We had the most wonderful stay here on our dog walking holiday in South Wales. From the moment we arrived, Alex and Emma made us feel so welcome. They are such lovely, thoughtful hosts who genuinely care about their guests and go above and beyond to make sure you have a great stay. The cottages themselves are absolutely picture-perfect. Every detail has been thoughtfully designed with incredible style and taste, while still feeling cosy and authentic. Set within beautifully restored old farm buildings that have been part of this landscape for generations, the cottages and gardens blend naturally into the surrounding hills and woodland, preserving the character of the area. The location is simply spectacular. With the Pembrokeshire Coast Path within walking distance, you're surrounded by miles of beautiful walking trails, rolling green hills, peaceful woodland, dramatic sea cliffs, and breathtaking coastal views. It really is a paradise for anyone who loves nature, hiking, and exploring with their dogs. We couldn't have asked for a better place to stay and would recommend it wholeheartedly. We left feeling relaxed, refreshed, and already looking forward to returning.
