Alex’s 3 Day Anahata Yoga Retreat

Teacher: Alex Mitchell
Date: Friday 11th – Monday 14th September 2026

On this three day retreat we explore how to develop our own daily Anahata yoga practice. Weaving Asana, Pranayama, Mantra, Mudra & Bandha into something life changing.

Everything in your life begins with a single spark — an intention.  That small, quiet decision you make today slowly shapes the person you become tomorrow.  First, it shows up as a behaviour — a little action you repeat once or twice.  Then it turns into a practice, something you consciously choose again and again.  With consistency, that practice evolves into a habit, a natural part of your daily rhythm.  Over time, that habit becomes your second nature, something you do without force or struggle.  Eventually, it becomes your identity — the truth of who you are, reflected in every thought, word, and action.

This is how transformation happens: not overnight, not in giant leaps, but in small, intentional steps that compound into a powerful inner shift.  You don’t become better by wishing. You become better by aligning your intentions with your actions, your actions with your values, and your values with the life you want to live.  Change doesn’t come from force; it comes from mindful awareness. You shape your identity by the choices you make in every single moment.

And it all starts with an intention.  So, decide to join me, empower yourself and watch your entire life transform from the inside out.

Anahata yoga is a flowing Hatha practice from Assam in the North of India. Also known as The Dance of Shiva and Shakti the intention is to encourage Shakti, the moon, to rise up to the embrace of Shiva, the sun. The metaphor of a lovers’ dance invokes the idea of a creative interplay between conscious awareness and divine energy. It reminds us to take a joyous, graceful, playful approach to achieving the state of union that is the ultimate goal of yoga.

Over the weekend we will be working with Anahata Asana Flows including:  The 5 Element Form, a morning practice;  Shiva’s Dance of Love, a flowing to stillness practice; The Dance of Shiva and Shakti, a balancing practice; The Dance of the 3 Warriors, an energising practice.

We will be working with Anahata Meditations including The Beggars Bowl, The Akasha Meditation and my favourite, The Anahata meditation.  We will be working with Pranayama, to enhance our experience of all of the above, our Asana practice, our Meditation practice and to feel into Prana.  We will be exploring how to use and introduce Mantra and Jappa into your practice.

Weather allowing I’m planning a walking meditation to Ceibwr Bay to practice The 5 Element Form, the traditional morning practice of Anahatha Yoga.  Followed by swimming and snacks in the bay.  We will be treated to one of Ash’s awesome sound baths. If you’ve never enjoyed a sound bath they are special on many levels… a celebration of the vibrational energy and healing power of sound.

I’ll be teaching a Restorative Class: Searching for Freedom which is the only class not from the Anahata tradition.  This is a class I’ve been teaching for a number of years now on special occasions here at Cwm Connell when I’m surrounded by props.  It’s one of my favourites and I find it particularly moving, powerful and life enhancing.

On Sunday there will be a walk to The Witch’s Cauldron with a picnic lunch so you have an opportunity to enjoy the fabulous Pembrokeshire Coast Path.

Whilst all teaching will be inclusive and appropriate for all this is not a retreat for someone new to the practice of yoga, this is for those with a practice who are looking to take that practice further, deeper.

The weekend will be fully catered with Breakfast, snacks, lunch and dinner with delicious vegan food – it’s going to be special.

Om shanti. A&E 💚🕉🙏
