Don’t take our word for it see what our guests have been saying…
A true paradise on Earth, with not a slice of exaggeration. Where to start? The cleanliness and coziness of the cottages were impeccable, paired with modern appliances in the kitchen as well as a fireplace for the perfectly relaxing evening. Outside of the cottages is where the real magic happens. A sea-view, fully-equiped yoga hall ; a plethora of magical walks to choose from – straight to the sea or along the hilly coast ; tear-inducing sunset views over the water on the horizon ; and the refreshing smell of clean, countryside air in the Welsh lands. All this experienced in mid-march right before spring, I can’t even imagine how precious this place must be in the warmer months. The journey to reach Cwm Connell is quickly forgotten once you experience the beauty of what this place has to offer. Thank you to our hosts, Emma and Alex, for architecting this experience and sharing your love and passion for hospitality, mindfulness, and relaxation.
Absolutely stunning location & the warmest welcome from Emma. We stayed in Yr Ffald as my husband is disabled, very well thought out & spacious accommodation for a wheelchair. We also have 4 dogs who thoroughly enjoyed the doggie paddock & endless walks….not to mention cosy nights in front of the log burner!. Perfect holiday in everyday.
WOW! From start to finish this was the best place we’ve discovered from years of travelling to “dog friendly” places. This is the first place we’ve ever found to have covered literally everything you could possibly need / want during a stay. From the moment of arrival we were greeted and shown around the land and where to find anything and if we had any questions where to find someone to help during our stay. The cottage itself was very clean and very modern with amazing facility’s. The most impressive part was the attention to detail to everything inside, from small tags for the dogs collars to let people know where they are staying and contact information if they become lost, the goodie bag of treats and towels available with more being available within the grounds, the information packs inside with all the best beach locations and local vet information etc. The fresh bread, local honey/butter and milk that was left out for us was a very nice touch that we very much enjoyed! You can even use BBQ’s they have on site We had almost not booked this because of the “shared” hot tub and sauna facility’s, I’m so glad we did because even though it’s “shared” you can book an hour time slot and it’s very private and located with a stunning view across the fields. Overall I could probably write over 1000 words of how amazing this place is! If you love your pooch and want to go away somewhere that’s quiet, well thought out for both humans and pooches this is the place for you! This has now set the standard for our holidays away and can’t wait to go back in the future!
We had the most wonderful stay here on our dog walking holiday in South Wales. From the moment we arrived, Alex and Emma made us feel so welcome. They are such lovely, thoughtful hosts who genuinely care about their guests and go above and beyond to make sure you have a great stay.
The cottages themselves are absolutely picture-perfect. Every detail has been thoughtfully designed with incredible style and taste, while still feeling cosy and authentic. Set within beautifully restored old farm buildings that have been part of this landscape for generations, the cottages and gardens blend naturally into the surrounding hills and woodland, preserving the character of the area.
The location is simply spectacular. With the Pembrokeshire Coast Path within walking distance, you’re surrounded by miles of beautiful walking trails, rolling green hills, peaceful woodland, dramatic sea cliffs, and breathtaking coastal views. It really is a paradise for anyone who loves nature, hiking, and exploring with their dogs.
We couldn’t have asked for a better place to stay and would recommend it wholeheartedly. We left feeling relaxed, refreshed, and already looking forward to returning.
You know a place is special when you breathe a long exhale as you turn the bend and see that first view of the sea and Cardigan Island. It is from there, driving down to Cwm Connell, you can feel the tension begin to drop from your shoulders, your hearts slow and your minds let go of the noise. The peace and tranquility, the isolation without loneliness and the sheer beauty of the surroundings and the cottages, weaves its magic every time we stay. I sell out every time I hold a retreat at Cwm Connell and it is not hard to see while. Alex and Emma are so welcoming and there for us whenever we need them. The attention to detail is both reassuring as a retreat host and noticed by my guests. Each cottage is exquisite – similar feel and colour but all unique, immaculately clean and so well laid out with everything you would want. The private decks overlooking the rolling meadows and gardens are wonderful. The yoga shala is light and spacious with a view over the meadow and sea. The communal lounge / dining room is cosy and relaxed. It’s the perfect set up with shared meals and space but also cosy cottages with kitchens and lounges where guests can retreat to have some me time. The guests love spending time in the spa, or reading in the gardens or wandering down to the sea. The location and facilities are perfect for adding on extras to my retreats – sea kayaking, river canoeing, painting workshops, pottery or dance being some of the things we have done. And a cacao ceremony around the stunning fire pit watching the sun set over the sea is pretty unmatched anywhere. I keep thinking I should look elsewhere for a new place to hold my retreats but I honestly don’t think I would find anything even close in facilities, quality and surroundings. And so I don’t. I return each summer with many yogi’s returning with me but also some new guests – for our annual recharge and reset.
We have just come back from a truly magical week’s holiday in three of the Cwm Connell cottages. We were three generations (plus dog!) ranging in age from 74 to 3 and we had the best holiday ever.
The cottages were delightful and beautifully restored in a way that combined comfort with practicality and we were all able to eat together in the evenings. We swam every day, walked, explored, surfed, read and played card games, went coasteering and took a boat trip around Skomer Island – truly something for everyone and exactly how a family holiday should be.
The peaceful atmosphere and opportunity to appreciate every moment in nature meant that we all slowed down in a way that is sometimes difficult to achieve in modern life. Masses of butterflies and wild flowers and an extraordinary absence of traffic and uncrowded sandy beaches gave a real sense of tranquility. Thank you, Emma and Alex, for looking after us so well and for making Cwm Connell such a memorable place for a family holiday
Cwm Connell Coastal Cottages has been voted the most Dog-Friendly holiday venue in Wales!! Treats for your dog, bowls, ample outside space for walkies, easily-cleaned floors and a genuine welcome await you in this remote, beautiful but accessible valley near the Pembrokeshire Coastal Path. Even though it is out of sight of other houses, the pleasant town of Cardigan, with shops, restaurants, cinema and supermarkets is within half an hour’s drive. Further down the coast there are charming small towns like Newport and Fishguard, with boating and water sports on offer. There are huge sandy beaches at Poppit and Newport, with not nearly as many people as the ones in Cornwall or on the south Pembrokeshire coast. As well as focussing on dog-owners, Alex and Emma are both keen on yoga, and organise classes. Yoga teachers bring groups to retreats who practise in the large yoga room, where it is also possible to have communal meals. This facility enables them also to cater for all-age family holidays, or for group celebrations where all the cottages have been booked out by friends
We stayed in Fron Haul as part of a big group of friends when we came to celebrate our friend Sophie’s 60th. The set up at Cwm Connell was perfect for the event – staying in the individual buildings within the complex meant we had our privacy amidst all the sociability. The cottage was so nicely converted and a lovely little bolt hole – great shower, comfy beds and plenty of space to relax.
Our hosts were very welcoming and helpful.
The cottage is very comfortable, beautifully decorated and well equipped. We particularly liked the enclosed decking terrace for al fresco morning coffee. Everything is very dog friendly. Our dog loved running and sniffing in the large enclosed paddock.
With several cottages on site and flexible, accommodating hosts it’s ideal for wider family / friends to holiday together.
